Our mission:
To support you in writing more persuasively

The Institute for Business Writing helps people and organizations communicate more clearly and convincingly–in writing. That can mean leaving behind generic messaging for more strategic, specific communications. It can mean reaching more international audiences. And it can mean refining your formats to better address audiences.

Learning approach:
Intensive & sector-specific

You’re guaranteed instruction from communicators with extensive practical experience in your field. Most courses are taught by Founding Director Lisa Friedman, a career communicator and educator.

Attend courses in Amsterdam

As of the COVID-19 crisis, all courses are offered online. Post-pandemic, we’ll resume in-person training at our office in the Beurs van Berlage Conference Centre in Amsterdam.

Our training center is located in the heart of Amsterdam, 5 minutes from Central Station, and 20 minutes from Schiphol airport.

Flexible Learning Formats

Small Groups

Each month, we schedule a course for a small group of participants from different organizations and sectors. Under normal circumstances, you may take part in-person or online. The Institute’s training center is in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, 5 minutes from Central Station. During the COVID-19 crisis, all trainings are online only.

In-company

For organizations with groups of people to train, we provide in-person, on-site training, with the option for online. Contact us for more writing-related courses designed for teams and team-building.

1-on-1 coaching

The most intensive way to learn is in a one-on-one setting. This format helps professional who need to learn new skills quickly, or who require coaching on how to work with teams.
